Each piece is authentically sealed on the reverse with the design studio’s name and reference number, alongside an artist’s signature. We are pleased to offer a limited selection of these original illustrations from a historic studio based in Alcoy (Spain). These rare works are designed to be displayed individually or curated as a cohesive set, offering a profound aesthetic impact for any collector. Originally created between the 1960s and 1980s, these designs were commissioned for the pioneering home textile companies that emerged in the Alcoy region—many of which remain industry leaders today. To ensure technical feasibility for the knitting and fabric printing processes of the era, the artist skillfully worked within a restricted color palette, balancing artistic expression with industrial production requirements. The collection serves as a historical record of a pivotal era in Spanish industrial design. Following the regional textile crisis prior to the 1960s, the industry underwent a radical transformation: shifting from the production of raw primary materials to the specialization in high-value home textiles and the mastery of Jacquard fabrics. This evolution, utilizing cotton and synthetic fibers, marked the beginning of Spain’s international export era to Europe and the United States, fueled by a competitive workforce and a newfound focus on perceived consumer value. This period also witnessed the birth of a new professional discipline: the Textile Designer. The works in this collection were originally conceived as sophisticated patterns for bed blankets, beach towels, and kitchen linens. Each illustration is stamped with the studio’s official mark and reference number on the back, making them unique artifacts of Mid-Century Mediterranean design heritage.
