Sublime 709 - Green Colorful Original Photographic Collage Mixed Media Artwork
By Tae Ho Kang
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Inspired by the artists of the Modern Art era, including Post-Impressionist Paul Cezanne, Kang visualizes the modern day search for identity in an age where information and images permeate every aspect of contemporary life. His architectural urban scenes are flattened, with everything pressed against the surface of the artwork. At times, multiple views of the same houses are visible, trees and bushes are vaguely alluded to, and the color palette finds a hectic balance. Just as a city operates in a balance of chaos and the sublime, so do the artworks of Kang. The Sublime is an euphoria that affects the deep recesses of one’s consciousness. As is this experience of the sublime, his work is largely abstract. This large colorful horizontal artwork is 38 inches high by 48 inches wide. The sides of this textured, original mixed-media artwork are finished as a continuation of the front and it does not require framing. It is hand-signed and dated by the artist on the back. It is wired and ready to hang. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable U.S. and worldwide shipping is available. Provenance: Artspace Warehouse. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Tae Ho Kang was born in Seoul, Korea in 1945. He studied at the College of Arts of Hongik University in Seoul, South Korea. He later moved to California to study Fine Art at California State University, where he graduated in 1980. Since then, his artworks have focused on the never-ending quest for home and belonging in a dense urban landscape. About his mixed media artworks, he remarks: “One day, when I was traveling, I was impressed by the beautiful scenery of the city under the sky, with many straight lines, curved lines, and harmonies of different colors, which seemed to be a magnificent orchestral performance. The beauty of this urban landscape gave me a deep impression and great change began to take place in my work. I wanted to be a molecule in this huge space. I have to find a house of my heart to be molecule. Where is the house I live in? What is my identity? This question has begun to arise. I am on a long journey to find my own house.” His mixed media collage artworks have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions as well as international art fairs throughout the US and in Korea. Kang's work has also been featured in Television and Film productions, including Criminal Minds, NCIS Los Angeles, Unforgettable, The Mindy Project, The Great Indoors, and American Housewife. His artworks have been exhibited and acquired by private collectors around the world. Acrylic on Cardboard on Wood Panel. Orange Mustard blue Born in Tallahasee Fl, William started his artistic career as a color consultant for his family's Design and Painting company that took on constant projects of custom painted interiors and decorating. This work of 20 yrs lead him to his fascination with textiles and paint, along with custom furniture. After creating and selling dozens of unique pieces of furniture, here began his transition from wall, to wood on furniture, to canvas. Painting on canvas was the culmination of his creative outlet. William feels that his lack of formal training in Fine Art has afforded him a freedom to paint what he envisions and feels, rather than conform to specific style or genre that he feels is limiting Inspired by hard edge abstraction and color field art such as Kenneth Noland, Joseph Albers, Gene Davis, Frank Stella, Anne Truitt, Imi knobel. William is showing his work locally and nationally and being collected in Palm Beach Island, Washington and New York. The Chilean creator, who has been living in exile in New York for decades, is having a major moment, receiving the biggest exhibitions, commissions and awards an artist could dream of.
In 1995, the artist embellished a found poster of Martin Luther King with visionary markings.
In Repetition GL.A, polka-dotted protuberances rise from a surface of rippling net. Here’s what makes the piece so rare.
We spoke with the artist, in one of her last interviews, about the messages in her striking figurative works, which will be featured in a posthumous show at the National Portrait Gallery.
