About the Item

Daniel Arsham Fictional Nonfiction: Archaeology, 2019 Plaster, crushed glass in custom packaging 8 × 5 × 1/2 in 20.3 × 12.7 × 1.3 cm Edition of 500 Kindly note that the first photograph is a representation of the artwork. The piece I am selling is in its original sealed box and has never been opened. In this unique blend of art, architecture and design, in conjunction with references to the past, present and future, Arsham presents an image of an eroding book by David Attenborough. This motif of decomposition physically spans across the front of the book, cascading along to the book's binding. It is as if the material is collapsing on itself, in turn creating a rough texture. The typography is indented into the material, creating a more tactile surface.
