RESTING IN GREEN Size: 40.5 x 50.5 cm (including frame) Acrylic on canvas A brilliantly executed contemporary abstract composition, executed in acrylic onto canvas, by British artist Frances Daws. The paintings in this series respond to the calming presence of the colour green. Frances consciously spends as much time as she can outside. She lives close to woodlands and fields, making it easy to be immersed within greenery. Resting in Green seeks to capture the varying shades of greens within a snapshot of plants and how the relationship of these colours can form interesting compositions. This fluid, abstract composition immerses the viewer in a serene, verdant atmosphere. Dominated by various shades of green, interwoven with hints of olive, moss, turquoise, and muted ochre, the work evokes the sensation of being enveloped by nature. Organic, curvilinear forms ripple across the canvas, overlapping and intertwining in a way that mimics the foliage that Frances is inspired by. She employs layered brushwork and soft transitions between tones, creating a gentle rhythm that guides the eye across the piece. There’s a meditative stillness in the work, capturing the quiet energy of an abstracted garden. Despite its abstraction, the composition feels balanced and harmonious, with light and dark greens playing off each other in a soothing visual dialogue. Both the painting and frame are in excellent condition. The artwork comes with a certificate of authenticity and signature on the reverse. Frances Daws is a British Artist working in the Southwest of England. Primarily a painter she also works within printmaking. Having lived by the English coastline and now residing within the countryside her work is often formed by ‘colour journeys’ a form of mapping the landscape through the emotive language of colour.
