The Rayol gardens were designed by Gilles Clément and are a little paradise facing the Mediterranean. Marie de Lignerolles is an artist, designer, illustrator and colourist based in France whose work emphasizes line drawing and the use of colour. She develops an artistic approach where colour is used as a starting point to define the design and dimension in her creations. She lives and works in Toulon. Her style emphasizes delicacy in composition and a sophisticated design sensibility. Her meticulous attention to materials and techniques indicates a deep understanding of craftsmanship, elevating her work in the realms of colour. Beginning in 2017, Marie de Lignerolles took a more intimate approach in her art, blending elements of design and drawing. This new direction inspired her to produce a series of gouache compositions on paper.
