About the Item

Signed lower right, 'M.S. Bremer' for Marlene Bremer (German-American, 1937-2018) and painted circa 1995. Additionally signed, verso, 'Marlene Bremer'. Born and educated in Germany, Marlene Bremer continued her formal education in the United States at New York University where she was awarded her Master of Art degree in addition to a Certificate in Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts. Bremer's paintings and sculptures reflect her lifelong love for the beauty in nature and the environment, executed in an expressionist interaction of vibrant colors and painterly brush strokes. Over the course of a long and successful career, Bremer was the recipient of numerous prizes and juried awards including from the Institute Audio Visual, Paris, France, the National Association of Women Artists, Salute to Women in the Arts, NJ, the Bicentennial Arts and Crafts Show, among others. She has exhibited with success internationally including in China, France, Germany and Greece as well as in the United States. In addition to her longtime membership of the National Association of Women Artists, Bremer was also a member of Artist Equity Inc., NYC, Painting & Water Color Affiliates of the Art Center of Northern New Jersey and Salute to Women in the Arts.
