Tears of the Garden is an original impressionist painting by Mary Chaplin. This painting was inspired by a moving story I heard on the news while I was in my garden painting the beauty of spring. Mary Chaplin is a French artist and lives and works in Wailly, a picturesque hamlet surrounded by ponds, rivers and woods, in the North of France. Mary Chaplin for more than twenty years has worked as a self-taught professional artist, always inspired by nature and by the varying effects of light. She started her career by painting figurative scenes she saw around her in the French countryside. Her first artworks were representations of landscapes, gardens, forests, rivers or lakes, which allowed her to explore different techniques, including pastel, oil, acrylic and watercolour. However, both her life and career reached a turning point in 2005 when she witnessed the ‘holy light’ in a chapel she was visiting; she was deeply touched and inspired by the beauty of the reflections coming from the stained-glass windows, and thus she started painting them, calling them her ‘reflections’, or, in French, ‘méditations’. After that experience in the chapel, her will to convey the ephemeral nature of the light she captures, and its soothing warmth, became stronger. This new artistic birth enabled her to follow new paths in which she explores light’s numerous and ever changing facets. This deeply influenced her artistic style and work as it gave them a new dimension, shifting from a figurative representation of light in landscapes and still life to an abstract and more personal and metaphorical interpretation and appropriation of light’s fugacity. Since her beginnings, artist and painter Mary Chaplin’s work has been published in several article in the press and in specialized art magazines. It also has been broadcasted on television and is regularly exhibited in festivals dedicated to sacred art as well as in art galleries throughout different countries, including France, Belgium and England.

Floral Abstract Painting Textured Flowers Original Art on Canvas

Abstract Flower Garden Original Impasto Floral Painting Contemporary Wall Art on Canvas This original abstract floral painting captures the energy and richness of a blooming garden through a bold impasto technique and expressive brushwork. Rather than depicting a literal landscape, the artwork translates the essence of a flower garden into dynamic layers of color, texture, and movement. Vibrant greens, soft pinks, warm reds, and touches of white emerge from a deep, contrasting background, creating a sense of depth and atmospheric complexity. The composition evokes the feeling of walking through a dense, lively garden at the height of its bloom—where flowers, stems, and light dissolve into one another. Thick applications of oil paint form sculptural textures on the canvas surface, giving the piece a tactile, almost three-dimensional quality. This impasto floral painting emphasizes spontaneity and emotion, aligning with contemporary abstract art and modern expressionist approaches. Executed in oil on canvas, the artwork showcases rich layering and palette knife techniques typical of impasto painting. The surface catches light differently from every angle, making it especially engaging in interior spaces with natural or directional lighting. This is a one-of-a-kind original artwork, not a print or reproduction, appealing to collectors of abstract painting, contemporary floral art, textured wall art, and expressive modern decor. It fits seamlessly into interiors styled in modern, contemporary, or eclectic aesthetics. Size: 40 × 50 × 2 cm (16 × 20 × 0.79 inches) Medium: Oil impasto on canvas Year: 2022 Type: One-of-a-kind original painting Condition: Excellent Signature: Signed by the artist Framing: Unframed (ready for custom framing) The painting is sold unframed. The buyer is responsible for arranging framing according to personal taste and interior requirements. A floating frame or minimal contemporary frame is recommended to enhance the depth of the textured surface. This abstract flower garden painting...
