Flowers bloom in an urban setting, offering a reprieve from the hustle and bustle. Artist Natalie George captures a patch of florals on a city street in vibrant pinks, blues, and greens. For a moment, the vivid shapes and colors of nature eclipse the hectic surroundings, providing beauty and rest for the eyes.
About the Artist
Natalie George has been an artist her entire life. A college semester in Italy introduced her to the tradition of realism. After mastering this classical style, she began to experiment with abstraction in her work. Natalie now paints heavily abstracted landscapes, combining unexpected colors to create interpretations of reflective bodies of water. Her work recalls both modernism and the gilded compositions of 20th Century Austrian painter Gustav Klimt. The artist’s process begins with visiting a location and shooting reference photographs, followed by sketches on paper, before finally turning to canvas. Natalie’s paintings reward the patient viewer, who will discover delicate horizon lines, trees, and fluid reflections within her hazy abstractions.
