About the Item

'Palette Fragment: Azure 2' 2026 by Roohi Saleem. Oil pastel on raw canvas, 7 x 7 in/ Framed: 10 x 1o in.. Signed and titled on verso. This painting is constructed as a dense compostition of abstract forms, featuring various shades blue, green, white and brown. Saleem’s abstracted narratives on canvas are animated by her innate sensitivity and concern for human conditions and emotions. Her work is inspired by a constant search for tranquility, as she views painting as a form of 'emotional survival'. Throughout her career, Saleem has experimented with both acryilc and oil paints, ultimately landing on oil sticks. Growing up in Karachi, Pakistan- as well as living in Dubai, Muscat, and Los Angeles- has greatly impacted her work, most noticably through her use of calming colors. Roohi Saleem has exhibited her artwork internationally in one-person and group exhibitions throughout the Middle East and the United States in such venues as the Omani Society for Fine Arts, the Muscat Art Society, Mamaroneck Artists Guild, William Ris Gallery and the SUNY Purchase College NY. Her individual works of art as well as commissioned murals are in many private and public collections including some US Hedge Funds, the Former US Ambassador to Yemen, the Secretary General of the Tender Board of Oman, and the President of Oman National Bank. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from SUNY Purchase College, NY, Magna Cum Laude. She won an Honorable Mention Award from Manhattan Arts International in its “New Beginnings” exhibition, 2015 and was featured in their ‘Artist Showcase gallery”. She was awarded ‘Second Place’ in the 2019 Annual Small Works Juried Show at the Mamaroneck Artist Guild.

Fils I Colors DLIII - Framed Blue Contemporary Abstract Mixed Media Painting

Fils I Colors DLIII - Framed Blue Contemporary Abstract Mixed Media Painting

By Raul de la Torre

Located in Los Angeles, CA

Experimentation with different materials, textures and techniques in each of his paintings has been a point of discovery and a major part of Raul de la Torre’s artwork. In his Fils I Colors series of works, he attempts to find the third dimension through the use of different materials. This colorful mixed media artwork is painted with acrylic on paper. After painting, the artist cuts holes in the paper which he embroiders over with the exact color thread. This original artwork measures 37 inches high by 30 inches wide. This artwork is framed in a modern white frame, the price and size include the frame. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable U.S. and global shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Initially, he removed paint from the artistic equation by slicing the works, combining canvas and paper with selected materials. Gradually, the slicing gained more importance, a reflection, perhaps, of his increased desire to be more aggressive. Embroidery provides another element as it creates thick shadows with organic shapes. When combined with light, these shapes offer different views of the work to various observers. The interaction between the artist, gravity, and the paint is important for the final result. The technique attempts to eliminate the absolute imprint of the artist’s hand. This permits the paint to be a major architect of the final result, giving it a life of its own. It results in infinite and timeless color combinations. In many cases, the different layers of color each represent a temporary state of mind, time, and even places and people. “FILS I COLORS is an attempt to find life, movement and parts that are not static, that change in their interaction with the observer. The different combinations of colors represent different emotions and interpretations for each individual interacting with the works.” – Raul de la Torre The major motivation for the idea behind his series of city artworks “CIUTATS” was Raul’s city, Barcelona, and it's particular infrastructure and architecture which are unique among the cities of the world and which are easily recognizable. His personal attraction to the great cities of the world and the urban life was a true incentive. In this series he portrays the different aspects of the cities as a human creation with their different levels of physical and social existence. “Man created the city and in turn the city has molded the actions and ideas of the human race. I have intended to mold the city, to create my city, to put in order the urban chaos in a reduced physical space, Forget that the cities in which we live have been formed with asphalt, cement, human misery, forgotten revolutions, buried bones and transform them into a conglomeration of texture and color put onto the frontier of canvas and paper.” - Raul de la Torre Artspace Warehouse has been representing and exhibiting Raul de la Torre's original artworks since 2010. The gallery has been a 1stdibs partner since 2014 with consistently excellent reviews from clients worldwide. The gallery exhibits a large selection of affordable original artworks from established and emerging international artists with diverse backgrounds at high standards. "Abstract Composition (Blue, Amber and Green)" Mixed Media Painting on Paper

By Suki Maguire

Located in New York, NY

This piece is an abstract composition done with mixed media, oil and acrylic paints on paper. The artist explores an incredible world filled with color and expressive brushstrokes. The lines and texture create a mature abstract composition as Suki Maguire has been painting in this field since the 1970s. Her joy is the expression and we can find these notes displayed vividly in this piece. This piece comes displayed in a modern light wood floating frame under glass. Art measures 9 x 6 in Frame measures 17 x 12.25 in There is a great potential for discovery in Maguire's world of symbols, but a passing glance will not do, you have to allow your gaze to linger on this part and that of each painting so that your subconscious will have the opportunity to retrieve the elusive forms that seem to be hiding within the more obvious shapes. This holds true even in those works that incorporate letters of the Korean or Latin alphabet, which serve as glyphs bearing some symbolic meaning that goes beyond the mere representation of sound. She has exhibited internationally in Seoul, Nantucket, New York, and Italy. Her styles and materials have ranged from realism to abstract, from water and oil colors to acrylics and coffee grounds.
