About the Item

Sculpture by the Spanish artist AMANCIO GONZALEZ bronze. Series limited to 25 copies Fantastic piece of art representing Spanish sculpture AMANCIO Gonzalez ( Leon 1965 ) Amancio González is a sculptor from Leon and an internationally celebrated artist. Amancio’s latest international event took him to Turkey. He believes that Turkey has reached a key moment in history: “…economically they function better than us and are trying to reach out to Europe through culture. I have already been involved in several cultural events in Turkey and the latest event, the International Symposium of Sculpture in Iskenderun, was very significant. Iskenderun is an industrial city that is completely renovating its surroundings, particularly the port and beaches.” Amancio took part in their symposium with many other international artists including French, English, Romanian and American artists. “Each artist invited to attend collaborated with fine art students to produce and present a project. We realised what could be achieved in such little time…“ Amancio’s ‘Return’ project was created in iron leaving behind the typical wood and stone carvings produced by his contemporaries. “…a sculpture with these features could otherwise not have been produced. It stands more than five metres tall and is based on man’s return to land after being away for a long while. ‘Return’ represents the man who walks through air from far across the sea pushed by the wind, realising that everything in a day is stored in his heart. The man that walks finally returns home to stay and the circle closes… “ The location for Amancio’s sculpture is by the sea resting between palm trees and looking out to the West. On the horizon stands a human figure in motion made of welded metal fragments. This is a technique that the artist has previously used in some of his works. The protagonist’s foot supports his own powerful structure whilst the other foot rests on a buoyant metallic cube. “… Suppose,” Amancio suggests, “that under the cube is nothing more than experiences, dreams, feelings and emotions that the person preserves from places he inhabited in his previous life and now brings back”.

Learning to Fly, by Eduardo Oropeza, bronze, sculpture, father, child, brown Learning to Fly, Eduardo Oropeza bronze sculpture of father and child, brown Sculptor, painter, printmaker, & photographer, Eduardo Oropeza remains a commanding presence in contemporary art. He applied a high level of devotion and integrity to his artwork. After the many years he had been working at his chosen profession, he saw being an artist as a tremendous gift, which honored and humbled him. A native of California's San Joaquin Valley and long-time resident of East Los Angeles, Oropeza's academic training began with the study of Sociology. After taking an art course, he ultimately changed majors and received a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture from San Jose State. Postgraduate work followed at San Jose, San Diego State at Long Beach and Palomar College. Oropeza’s contribution to public art in Los Angeles can be seen in a ceramic mosaic covering the 2 story Self Help Graphics Workshop building located at Ceasar Chavez and Gage streets in East Los Angeles. Oropeza donated his time and artistic talent to complete this multi-year project. The second phase of this project was the creation of a Virgin of Guadalupe shrine, shown here, for the community. Selected collections: Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Hispanic Research Center, Arizona State University, City of Sacramento, California, Mary Tyler Moore...

"Cuba Rumba" contemporary bronze table, mural sculpture figurative Cuba dancing

"Cuba Rumba" contemporary bronze table, mural sculpture figurative Cuba dancing

Located in Kowloon, Hong Kong

Cuba Rumba is a bronze sculpture with green patina, it is connected to a steel base. The edition size is 50. This sculpture stands on shelf as well as be hung on wall. This sculpture is part of the Cuba Series of Joan Artigas which is inspired by the Cuba Rumba music and dance rhythm. Joan’s latest sculpture series of female figures brings an out-of-the-box approach to sculpture creation. The small vivid women figures linked or bonded to their pedestals; the figures are delicate and intriguing representation of a woman’s mind and soul yearning for liberty, freedom, a moment of tranquility from busy daily life, or a space that she could spend the time totally with herself and for escaping from the routine and monotony. The woman made of bronze is warm and sensual and dances in/on a structure of rusted iron. She observes the world from her/ours solitude, from this vertiginous watchtower (metaphor of life, universe) rusted because the inexorable time. The base rises impressively, creating a contradiction between both pieces. However, in Joan’s work the geometrical base and the figure find a surprising harmony. BIOGRAPHY OF JOAN ARTIGAS PLANAS...
