About the Item

Nude Study in Sausalito, Bay Area Figurative, Signed, 1980, 28x28 Vibrant and compelling nude study by Patricia Gren Hayes (American, 20th Century), circa 1980. A quintessential example of Bay Area Figurative art, the painting captures a seated female figure positioned before a window overlooking a Sausalito harbor. Hayes utilizes bold, expressive brushwork and a vivid palette to bridge the gap between abstraction and representation—a hallmark of the movement. The figure is rendered with a mix of soft modeling and sharp, gestural lines, while the background depicts a simplified, sun-drenched view of the California coast. Signed on verso, "Gren Hayes". Unframed. Canvas size: 28"H x 28"W x 1"D Bay Area Figurative / Bay Area Feminist Art Movement artist, Patricia Gren-Hayes, studied at Winnipeg Public Art School in 1950.
