Rosie Copeland Sunset, Albert Bridge Original Landscape Painting Gouache on 200gsm paper Image Size: 38 x 35 cm Sold Unframed Please note that in situ images are purely an indication of how a piece may look. Sunset, Albert Bridge, is an original painting by Rosie Copeland. This study was painted en-plein air from Battersea Park looking towards Albert Bridge at Sunset. ‘I love using gouache as it allows me to work quickly and fluently on the spot… building layers of transparent and semi opaque washes to capture the fleeting effect of evening light’ Rosie grew up in the Cotswolds and gained an MA in Art History at Edinburgh University before pursuing a career in the public relations industry. Whilst raising her family, she continued her studies in life drawing and painting at Putney School of Art and Design and Heatherley School of Fine Art in Chelsea. Rosie now lives in London and paints from her studio in Balham. In the last few years she has exhibited at numerous exhibitions in London and the home counties including The Affordable Art Fair in Battersea, The New English Art Club and The Royal Society of Oil Painters Annual Exhibitions at the Mall Galleries and Nadia Waterfield Fine Art, Andover. In 2019, she was elected a member of Chelsea Art Society. Rosie enjoys painting directly from observation either outside ‘en plein air’ immersed in the landscape or back in the studio working on a still life or the figure. She has developed a painterly, expressive style which she uses to capture the essence of a subject and explore her love of form, colour and light. Rosie works mainly in oils but enjoys experimenting with a variety of techniques in acrylic, watercolour, gouache, pastel and charcoal.

Artist Janet Dyer pictures an expressionist sun setting behind lakeside mountains. She captures the warm orange glow of the last moments of its descent. "Softly the evening came with the sunset," quotes Janet. In her trademark style of minimalist strokes, she envisions Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's iconic poetry.

About the Artist
Janet Dyer doesnâ€™t like to spend too much time talking about her art, as sheâ€™d rather be creating it. She doesnâ€™t have an artist statement, the traditional statement of purpose crafted by visual artists to explain their method. On becoming an artist, Janet simply states, â€œI picked up some crayons and pencils and brushes and kept using them.â€ She believes the process of creating art is equal in importance to the final product. The artist enjoys relinquishing control of her paintings to find delightful surprises in her so-called â€œmistakes.â€ Janet's expressively gestural yet bucolic landscapes are a testament to the success of her method.
