KC Crompton Always with you Original Abstract Painting Oil Paint, Graphite and Oil Stick on Canvas 90 X 122 cm x 3.5 cm Unframed 96 x 129 cm Framed Sold Framed: Dark wood float frame. From the series: Expectations Painted in a period of quiet anticipation, Always With You holds the charged space between what is known and what is about to arrive. Made while waiting for the birth of a first grandchild, the work carries the energy of change, new beginnings, and the subtle reconfiguration of relationship. A soft, expansive ground of warm cream is interrupted by a blush field of muted pink and anchored by a dense, gestural sweep of blue ochre, umber, Sienna and cerulean grey. These elements move laterally across the surface, creating a low horizon that suggests both landscape and emotional terrain within an abstract language. A sharp note of acid green cuts through, introducing tension and vitality, while graphite marks, fragments of text and drips register as traces of memory and the unfolding of what is yet to come. The composition resists resolution. Forms emerge and recede, held within a space that is both intimate and open. It speaks to continuity, presence, and the quiet certainty of connection. Additional information: Oil on Canvas Sold unframed Image size: Height: 90cm (35.43 in) Width: 122cm (48.03 in) Artist Biography: KC’s oil and mixed media paintings explore relationship to self, body, people and place through the world of archetype, from Great Mother to Goddess, in gestural, abstract and semi figurative expressions. She is informed by her love of female myth, archetype, and her previous career as a psychotherapist. Her art is an intuitive and expressive process of discovery Collectors experience her work as expressive, powerful and emotional. As an aphantasic artist, with no internal visual imagery, story, emotion and the physicality of painting are significant in the development of the work. Using contrast of light and dark, control and chaos, her paintings emerge through layering, disrupting and repeating symbol, text line and form. A surface rich in history develops, the forms and colour palette inspired by its emotional and psychological meaning. KC has always searched for meaning and understanding of experience, this being motivational in her previous professional career as a psychotherapist working with survivors of trauma. The belief in the transformational power of relationship and the human spirit is fundamental to her view of the world and approach to art making. She invites the viewer to finish the painting through their own meaning making process, to interpret and respond emotionally and psychologically. KC is cofounder of BlueHouse artspace, a working gallery in Surrey, UK. She is mentor for Creative Shift, an online creative mind programme and Fellow of Royal Society of Arts. She lives in Surrey, UK and Andalucia, Spain, with her husband and walks the land with her canine companion, Bentley.
