A charming Impressionist pastoral scene of Rockport Harbor from the Summer of 1990. This vibrant impressionistic painting depicts a sunny seaside landscape with much depth and detail. A white beach house with a red roof nestles beside a large, windswept tree with warm-toned foliage. Two figures stroll along a path toward the sandy shore. In the distance, the sailboats dot the sparkling blue water under a bright sky with soft pink-tinged clouds, while seagulls wheel overhead. The energetic brushwork and luminous color palette evoke a joyful, breezy day by the sea. This piece is executed in an intimate yet energetic manner. Colors are lively, and the overall work conveys tranquility, natural beauty, and the charm of countryside life. This piece is signed by the artist lower left and titled on verso, it comes housed in an ornate wood frame with linen liner and hanging wire on verso, ready to be displayed. Art measures 10 x 8 inches Frame measures 17.5 x 15.5 inches Wayne Beam Morrell (1923–2013) was an American Impressionist painter and illustrator, best known for his vibrant marine and coastal landscapes.Born in Clementon, New Jersey, Morrell studied at the Philadelphia School of Industrial Art. He worked primarily in industrial and commercial design before turning seriously to fine art painting around 1953. He later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, creating murals during his service. Morrell settled in Rockport, Massachusetts, where he became a prominent member of the local art colony. His work is celebrated for its luminous light, loose brushwork, and affectionate portrayals of New England harbors, seascapes, and landscapes. A prolific artist, he produced hundreds of paintings that remain popular with collectors today.
