39 x 32 in. Oil Painting "Informed Consent" - Oil Paint, Silver Leaf

By Stephen Cimini

Located in Los Angeles, CA

The artist is a recipient of the Pollock-Krasner grant awarded to artists with established abilities, established by the wife of Jackson Pollock. His work is held in various corporate and private collections worldwide. Oil Painting 39 x 32 x 2 inches Oil paint, cold wax, silver leaf on gallery wrapped canvas Framing is optional because painting wraps around canvas Ready to hang on wall, signed on the back by artist Video attached for viewing The beauty of geometrical balance in Cimini's series of work evokes a certain quiet beauty. Strong layers of color and brushwork explore depth and emotion to each unique piece. Cimini's work range from paintings with vibrant color and energy to quiet contemplative pieces with rich layering of depths. Using oil paint, wax medium, and marble dust on canvas, the artist creates a harmonious balance on the canvas, or paper, characterized by textured shades of colors, with linear lines and shapes - allowing a symmetrical, meditative composition of shapes and colors to emerge. ARTIST STATEMENT Building on the architectural origins which have been the basis of my work for over a decade, I have started referring to my compositions as random symmetry. That is, creating a balance on the canvas with no discernible pattern allowing a symmetrical, meditative composition to emerge. I employ the golden mean as a reference which can often be seen in the composition. I use oil paint with a cold wax medium, layering the paint, as organic surfaces evolve within the restrained lines of the composition. During the process an environment develops giving an emotional story to the thoughtfully planned out compositions. My color choices vary, sometimes deliberately creating a series with particular color decisions and sometimes allowing the color choices to impulsively appear fueled by intuition and experience. Color remains a constantly unfolding mystery. In a recent exhibition, MATH TO BEAUTY is series of new paintings employing the golden mean as a basis for the geometric compositions which I've come to call random symmetry. This fascinating ratio, frequently found in nature and geometry, is perceived by many to play a role in the human perception of beauty. So much has been written about the golden ratio; to the point that it's hard to discern fact from fiction. But whatever the truth, the golden ratio has properties that has intrigued and inspired mathematicians, biologists, artists, musicians, historians, architects, psychologists, and even mystics for centuries. Using the golden ratio in the cavalier way that I do keeps me mindful of proportion. Just when I think it's working along comes color to challenge my senses. In the end my intentions are to create beauty in my work. As the Greeks put it, the three ingredients to beauty are: symmetry, proportion, and harmony. Born: 1949, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, USA Education: San Francisco Art Institute School of Visual Arts (New York City) Grants & Awards 2003 Recipient of a Grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation selected by a committee of distinguished art professionals awarded to artists with established ability. The Whisper

The Whisper

By Haleh Mashian

Located in West Hollywood, CA

This 60 inch by 48 inch original textural painting on canvas is wired and ready to hang. It is signed by the artist on the back. The thick layering of paint, glitter and gold foil material presents a dazzling tactile nature to the work. The blue, gold and copper coloring brings out a beautiful patina like effect to this beautiful forest. This would be a marvelous addition to any collection. ABOU THE ARTIST - For over 20+ years, Haleh Mashian’s art has colorfully illustrated her unique, astute view of the world, both real and imagined. As a painter and creative expressionist, Mashian’s abstract works reveal her appreciation of color theory, compositional form, and the study of positive and negative space. Working in mixed media and using a variety of techniques from collage to impasto, a repeated layering and application of paint, Mashian’s dynamic pieces range from smaller artworks that can be arranged together to large-scale paintings. Her large-paneled paintings have been exhibited nationally in Los Angeles, Miami, and other art enclaves and are included in private collections in the United States and abroad. Her creativity extends into other forms as well. Haleh has included fashion design, digital art, and music into her repertoire of boundless expression. She is the Founder and Lead Designer for MASH City, her innovative men’s and womenswear collection. Originally from Iran, she is a longtime resident of Southern California with a Studio in Santa Monica where she lives with her husband and two children. TREE SERIES - The Tree Series presents an intricate study of positive and negative space and the mystery of multitudes in minimalism. These canvases, often large-scale, have the effect of walking into a multicolored forest. Art critic, Peter Frank, speaks of this series with awe: “Haleh Mashian does not paint trees. She does not paint forests. She paints the condition that persists between trees and forests...

Untitled (Triptych 5) : contemporary abstract work of art

By Gerald Wolfe

Located in New York, NY

Abstract geometric artwork by a contemporary artist Gerald Wolfe. Gerald Wolfe’s wall pieces have a three-dimensional, architectural feel. The artist’s approach to his paintings is intuitive. He meticulously creates his works step by step, imbuing shapes and lines with energy. The interplay of forms, color, and texture creates tension between flatness and depth. His work can become a unique gift and will be a wonderful addition to any space, be it a living room of a modern home or a lobby of a commercial building. Gerald Wolfe received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of Maryland in 1972, discovered his interest in art and went on to study fine arts at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. In the summer of 1974, he also studied at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine. From his first show in 1979, a summer invitational at OK Harris Gallery, Gerald has shown his work on a consistent basis in New York, including such galleries as Denise Bibro Fine Art, NYC, and Kim Foster Gallery, NYC . In addition, he has had solo exhibits at the Paterson Museum in Paterson, New Jersey...
