About the Item

“Bound in Grace” is a contemporary figurative–abstract painting by French artist Natalya Mougenot, part of her ongoing series dedicated to women, solidarity, emotional connection, and the enduring strength of human bonds. This series, initiated in 2022, reflects the artist’s deep concern for the growing absence of sincere, dependable relationships in modern life — both in art and in the everyday world. In this composition, three faceless women occupy the canvas with gentle yet powerful presence. Their forms are painted in warm tones of peach, rose, clay, and sienna, contrasted by deep strokes of navy and accents of yellow and crimson. There is no literal gesture of touch — yet the connection is unmistakable. The fluid contours, the leaning bodies, and the harmonious palette create a sense of unity, protection, and shared vulnerability. The result is a quiet, intimate strength — a scene that feels less like a portrait and more like a shared pulse. “Bound in Grace” expands on Natalya’s long-term exploration of human connection — especially among women. She sees this bond not as something decorative or sentimental, but as something necessary, almost sacred. Natalya explains: “A sincere bond is a form of grace — delicate, but stronger than anything.” She adds : “In life, as in art, honesty is the foundation. Without authenticity, nothing holds.” She also shares : “We live surrounded by noise and appearances. True connection is the quiet space where we finally breathe.” This painting echoes her belief that in today’s world — fast, curated, fragmented — we often lose sight of the profound emotional anchors that nourish us. “Bound in Grace” becomes a symbolic reminder that strength is not solitary; it is shared, held in the invisible threads between people. Natalya has grown far beyond her influences . Her style is unmistakably her own — a blend of figurative suggestion and abstract emotion, characterized by fluid, organic silhouettes and  gestural brushwork that conveys energy and vulnerability. Her women are not portraits; they are embodiments of emotional truth, symbols of connection, trust, and shared inner life. Themes of human connection have long inspired Natalya . She found this theme in the works of Alice Neel who captured psychological honesty and in the works of Frida Kahlo expressed bonds forged through pain and resilience. Through this work, Natalya Mougenot offers a deeply contemporary reflection on what it means to stay connected in a world where everything moves quickly and feels increasingly superficial. For Natalya this puece is her invitation:  to slow down, to recognize each other, to stand together, and to rediscover the beauty in honest, graceful relationships. This piece is a unique and powerful addition to Natalya's  evolving series devoted to the modern human bond. About the piece: Medium: Acrylic on heavyweight professional acid-free Italian Fabriano paper, varnished for protection Dimensions: 70 x 100 cm ( 27.6 × 39.4 inches) The piece is sold unframed, but as it is a standard size, you should have no difficulty finding a suitable frame to complement it. Her multicultural background and personal experience inform her bold, expressive works, which have found homes in private collections around the world. Natalya’s distinctive visual language blends Abstract Expressionism, Impressionism, Art Naïf, and Art Brut—resulting in paintings that are raw, instinctive, and emotionally resonant. Across her work, three values guide her: authenticity, sincerity, and honesty.
