Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Davis spent a significant portion of his career in Chicago, Illinois, where he was affiliated with several art institutions, including the Art Institute of Chicago and the Palette and Chisel Club. Later in life, he relocated to California, working for Disney Animation Studios in Los Angeles and Burbank. Davis's artistic oeuvre is characterized by colorful and stylized representations of birds, often set against lush, natural backdrops. His works have been featured in various exhibitions and continue to be sought after by collectors. In addition to his fine art, Davis contributed to commercial art, notably creating a series of advertisements for Lincoln automobiles in the late 1920s, which featured exotic birds alongside the vehicles.
