PEDAL BOAT COLOUR STUDY 1 – LAKE BALATON, HUNGARY – GERALD BERGHAMMER
This atmospheric colour fine art photograph by Austrian photographer Gerald Berghammer captures a row of brightly coloured pedal boats on the calm waters of Lake Balaton, Hungary, beneath an expansive, storm-filled sky. Vivid reds, yellows, blues and greens create a striking contrast with the soft turquoise water and muted blue-grey clouds, while the smooth lake surface and generous negative space give the boats a sculptural, almost surreal presence within the minimalist composition. The contrast between their playful colours and the approaching storm introduces a subtle tension between tranquillity and dramatic intensity. Combining minimalist waterscape photography, dramatic natural light and refined colour composition, PEDAL BOAT COLOUR STUDY 1 transforms a familiar lakeside scene into a distinctive contemporary fine art photograph, particularly suited to modern and minimalist interiors and to collectors of colour landscape, waterscape and fine art photography.
SILVERFINEART – Analog Roots, Contemporary Vision
Vienna, Austria – Gerald Berghammer (born 1975, Austria) is an internationally award-winning photographer whose work is rooted in a lifelong dedication to analog black-and-white photography. Traveling extensively, Berghammer captures fleeting impressions on film, creating images that consciously slow perception and stand in deliberate contrast to today’s fast-paced digital world.
During his master studies, analog photography became the central focus of Berghammer’s artistic practice and the subject of his final thesis in 2011. The exceptional quality of this work laid the foundation for SILVERFINEART, a body of work defined by technical precision, aesthetic clarity, and a strong commitment to photographic craftsmanship. In the years that followed, Berghammer continued to refine and deepen his engagement with the medium, pursuing photographic art at the highest technical and artistic level.
A defining characteristic of his practice is complete control over the photographic process. All analog negatives were personally developed by the artist in the darkroom. Each image then underwent a rigorous selection process, with only works meeting his uncompromising quality standards included in the final portfolio.
In recent years, Berghammer has expanded his artistic toolkit through the use of state-of-the-art medium-format digital technology. This evolution represents not a departure, but a continuation of his established visual language–preserving the discipline, compositional rigor, and aesthetic principles shaped by decades of analog experience.
SILVERFINEART embodies the synthesis of classical photographic craftsmanship and contemporary vision. The works are characterized by timeless black-and-white imagery, reduced compositions, and a strong emphasis on atmosphere and form.
The portfolio can be viewed online or at the SILVERFINEART Gallery in Vienna, Austria. Gerald Berghammer personally advises collectors in selecting photographic works for private and professional spaces.
