About the Item

Foyer V, from Richard Heeps series A Short History of Milan which began as a special project for the 2018 Affordable Art Fair Milan. It was well received and the artwork has become popular with art buyers around the world. Richard continues to add to the collection as he frequently returns to Milan to make new work for the series. There is a reoccurring linear, structural theme throughout the series, capturing the Milanese use of materials in design such as glass, metal, wood and stone. "I have a strong connection to Northern Italy from printing my books in Verona, and I have visited Milan to exhibit many times. The work here is a series I have been sketching ideas for for a while, and I am excited to release my first Italian body of work, capturing the spirit of Milan." It sits alongside his Hong Kong, Vietnam and New York series of street photography, which depict the colour, fabric and structure of cities with distinct style. The artwork is a limited edition of 25 gloss photographic print, dry-mounted to aluminium presented in a museum board white window mount and a choice of black or white box frame fitted with anti-reflective UV70% glass. The artwork is signed and numbered on reverse accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Our artworks are handmade to order. Viewing on the backlit screen may alter the exact colors. Richard Heeps’ seductive, highly saturated colours and sophisticated pictorial structures demonstrate a true love and empathy for his subject matter – be it cool, descriptive interiors, still life, portrait or landscape. His distinctive style pushes the limits of lens-based photography without the need for digital manipulation. He runs his own darkrooms in Cambridge (UK) where he hand prints his colour photography. His work has been exhibited in Museums and Public Galleries around England, and he has participated in Art Fairs around the world, and his work is now part of many international collections.
