About the Item

This lithographic poster was printed in 1981 at the Atelier Mourlot in Paris. In the early 1970s, Air France commissioned Roger Bezombes to create original artworks capturing the spirit of Air France. Bezombes was a French painter famous for his exquisite sculptures and paintings. He studied in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and was much influenced by his friendship with Maruice Denis as well as the colors of Henri Matisse. In the 1960s he began exhibiting a new rawness derived from ‘primitive’ examples and new materials associated with his experiments in various media. These bright, modern, and surrealist inspired posters were revolutionary and far ahead of their time, depicting concepts indicative of travel and indulgence such as ‘exotisme’, ‘gastronomie’, ‘liberté’, and ‘raffinement’. Certificate of Provenance: Each individual work of art carefully curated by Mourlot Editions comes with a Certificate of Provenance, signed, dated, stamped, and numbered by Eric Mourlot. Stored in a clear protective sleeve accompanying your piece, this certificate guarantees the origin and authenticity of your personal lithograph.

Artist: Roger Mühl Medium: Original Lithograph, signed and numbered, 1986 Dimensions: 12.5 x 16.5 in, 41.9 x 31.8 cm Arches Paper - Perfect Condition A+ In 1986, from the Lithographic Portfolio "Provence" One of Mühl's major sources of creativity throughout his career was light. It was in the south of France that he found the intense, bright sunlight that inspired him most. In this series of original signed lithographs, the artist depicts the landscapes around his home in Provence. These works were created to illustrate texts and poems written by French author Marcel Pagnol. Marcel Paul Pagnol was a French novelist, playwright, and filmmaker. He was born in 1895 in Aubagne, Provence. While he is still generally regarded as one of France's greatest 20th-century writers, he became the first filmmaker elected to the Académie française...
