"Vika and Marlon Brando," Grey Exhibition Project canvas print, limited edition. Origin: from the collection of the artist's family. Each copy is accompanied by certificate of authenticity. During the creation of the work, the artist actively worked with images of mass culture and Western idols. This is the author's interpretation of the cinematic myth of Marlon Brando, inscribed in the visual language of late Soviet/early post-Soviet Moscow, and not a realistic "portrait" of the actor in an academic sense. ​ At the time of creation, the picture refers to the period when Vrubel had already formed his grotesque poster style, which later brought him fame for the graffiti "Fraternal Kiss" on the Berlin Wall. ​ In the same period, the artist often combined political and pop cultural motives, using recognizable faces (politicians, pop stars, film actors) as icons of modern times; "Marlon Brando" fits into this line, alongside works such as "Vika and Marlon Brando" (1996). ​ Original (oil, pencil on cardboard 133 by 204 cm; 52 3/8 by 80 3/8 inches) was sold at Sothebys. The painting participated in an exhibition in Bologna, in the Gallery of Modern Art, Moscow 1992. The print is presented in two formats: 60 * 80 and 100 * 80
