About the Item

Isaac (sometimes Isac) Friedlander's large wood engraving, My People, 1944, reflects his genuine social interest. After a youth of extreme hardship, including incarceration in a czarist prison, he had enormous empathy for anyone unfortunate. This is a wrenching World War II image, but one that shows the dignity of those who are suffering. It is signed and titled in pencil.
