Lithograph on wove paper, 1936. Edition of 100. Signed by the artist in pencil, lower right. Published by Associated American Artists, New York. Framed dimensions, 28.5 x 33.75 inches, the full sheet. Catalogue raisonne reference: Fath 11. This is one of four lithographs the artist made based on his murals for the Missouri State Capitol (on the walls of the House Lounge) in Jefferson City, MO in 1935. The subject was inspired by an early 1900s folk song, loosely based on a murder committed by Frankie Baker, who shot her boyfriend, in St. Louis in October 1899 (the song has been recorded by Sam Cooke, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and others).
