Road to Nablous, West Bank: A 19th C. Hand-colored Lithograph by David Roberts

"Entrance to Nablous, The Holy Land (West Bank)" is a framed 19th century hand-colored lithograph by David Roberts from the large folio edition of his monumental 6 volume publication "The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, Egypt and Nubia", published in London by F. G. Moon in 1843. The lithographs were prepared by Louis Haghe (1806-1885) from drawings and paintings by Roberts. The resultant large folio editions of 'The Holy Land' and 'Egypt & Nubia' are considered by many to be the most beautifully lithographically illustrated works issued in the 19th century. This framed hand-colored lithograph depicts a view of the road leading to Nablous, a city in the West Bank. Men on foot, camels and a dog are seen coming and going on the road with Nablous in the distance. This beautiful hand-colored lithograph is presented in an attractive burl wood frame and a cream-colored mat. The framing and glazing utilizes museum quality archival materials. The frame measures 15.75" high, 19.75wide and 0.5" in depth. The lithograph is in excellent condition. Many additional framed and unframed David Roberts' lithographs of Egypt are available on 1stdibs and on our website, which would make a beautiful display grouping of two or three prints. A discount is available for of two or more of these prints. We have many other David Roberts lithographs...
