About the Item

This striking original poster was designed by Le Corbusier himself to promote his 1962–1963 exhibition at the Musée National d’Art Moderne in Paris. Far more than just an architect, Le Corbusier was also a painter, sculptor, and designer, and this poster is a bold expression of his modernist visual language. Executed with clean graphic forms and flat fields of color, the composition is divided into quadrants. It features simplified, almost symbolic shapes: a radiant yellow oval, a white square, and an expressive red form floating over deep blue, which suggests sea and sky. A stylized eye peers from the corner, and a cluster of white birds adds a playful rhythm. These abstracted elements echo the artist's fascination with primal forms, modularity, and his signature Purist aesthetic. The typography is simple and architectural — a natural extension of Le Corbusier’s design ethos — and announces the exhibition dates: 15 novembre 1962 – 14 janvier 1963, open daily 10h to 17h, except Tuesdays. This poster is more than an advertisement — it's a visual manifesto. It encapsulates Le Corbusier’s lifelong dedication to unifying art, architecture, and design into a coherent modern vision. Pieces like this were printed in limited runs and displayed throughout the city to draw attention to one of the most important retrospectives of his work during his lifetime.
