About the Item

A term that is composed of the ancient Greek preposition Hypo-Mneme and literally means “commemorative memory.” It is the meeting of several layers in an object, the memory, the game, and the dreaming that emerge from the inner experience, both personal and every day, transmitted in a direct way through the idea of a universal toy and is a recurring element. of the Persian rug that permeates everything - floors, toys, drawings - sensations that come from the past, giving the viewer the ability to remember as if we were prisoners of a dream. The artist is inspired by the relationships between the past and the present, creating works that function as archaeological finds. His pieces, which include floors and toys, reconstruct a historical material legacy, evoking the elaborate tiles of ancient Bogotá. His work allows the viewer to remember and become aware of the loss of cultural heritage, thus maintaining historical continuity. From the Hypomnema series Handmade from an oriental rug. Each piece is carefully hand-sculpted in clay and later hand cast in a mixture of resin and stone. Marcela Cure is an interior designer from Barranquilla, Colombia, who, in addition to designing contemporary spaces with a Latin Punch, creates exquisite hand-sculpted art objects in materials sourced from the earth. Inspired by the creative legacy of her late mother, a renowned plastic artist, Marcela dedicated herself to designing her own spaces with such impeccable taste and creativity, that friends and family began to comission her design projects. It was at the end of 2015 that "Marcela Cure" was established as an interior design firm focused on contemporary and luxury projects, from which modern, cheerful spaces with an evident Latin American spirit are proposed, as well as contemporary art objects.

She explains that “the resulting forms display my interwoven emotions: quiet, complex, absorbed, relaxed, serious, playful, flirtatious, mothering, smothering and ultimately, joyful.” Her installation, OPEN SPACES: Espaces Ouverts, is a profusion of forms suspended in our two front facing plaza windows. As they float, sight lines...
