Jaroslav Prošek is one of the rising voices in contemporary Czech glass sculpture, celebrated for transforming the centuries-old tradition of Bohemian crystal into bold, sculptural works of modern luxury. Born in 1986 in Beroun, Czech Republic, Prošek lives and works in Northern Bohemia—the historic heart of Europe’s glassmaking tradition—where he has built an international reputation for his technically demanding, one-of-a-kind crystal sculptures. Originally trained through hands-on technical craftsmanship rather than a conventional fine art path, Prošek developed an exceptional understanding of material, precision, and structural engineering before entering the world of sculpture. His artistic evolution was further shaped through mentorship under renowned Bohemian crystal masters including Vlastimil Beránek, whose influence can be seen in Prošek’s pursuit of movement, purity of form, and monumental presence. Working with optical crystal, cast glass, stainless steel, marble, and wood, Prošek creates sculptures that balance fluidity with architectural strength. Using complex techniques including mold casting, grinding, engraving, and cold finishing, his works often draw inspiration from the sea, yachting, organic forms, and the raw energy of nature—capturing motion as if frozen in crystal.
