About the Item

Stuart Mathews was a prolific sculptor who studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and Cranbrook in the 1950s. His work is characterized by his ability to combine a variety of different metals with intriguing abstract shapes and textures to create uniquely cohesive works of art that are as beautiful today as when they were first conceived. We have handled a number of his creations and this sunburst form is a very good example of his wall sculpture. A well composed abstract composition with a nice variety of materials and patinas. It wiill hold down a very large space. Unmarked.
