About the Item

A great figurative sculpture by American artist Robert Cremean. Born in Toledo, OH in 1932, Robert Cremean studied at Alfred University, and the Cranbrook Academy of Art. He also studied under in Italy, under a Fulbright scholarship. Cremean exhibited his works early in his career, nationally and internationally. He also represented the United States at the Venice Biennale 34. But Cremean lost interest in how the gallery and museum set operated, and withdrew from the commercialized art community, finding peace living in Tomales, CA. (rural area north of San Francisco, CA). Cremean's works are held in private and public collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Orange County Museum. This work is from an earlier part of the artist's career, and was sold through the the Esther Robles Gallery, Los Angeles, CA. Titled 'Woman Drying Hair'
