In 1914 Mundus became a majority stakeholder in J. & J. Kohn, and merged with Gebrüder Thonet in 1922 to form the publicly traded company Thonet-Mundus.

The chair was manufactured in the Czechoslovak factories of the Thonet-Mundus group, one of the few companies capable of mastering the demanding production of tubular steel furniture.
