Eytan Brandes tore apart a dressy sapphire cuff link (see final photo in array) to make this incredible, one-of-a-kind* toggle necklace. The sapphire balls are an incredible feat of stone-setting; it's not easy to pave-set stones on a sphere! Six rows of faceted round sapphires -- slightly graduated in size so that the largest stones are set on the "equator" -- work their way down to the bottom where -- just to make the stone-setting challenge more challenging -- an oval (not a round!) sapphire is set in a tidy bezel. Topping each sapphire ball is a neat little white gold cone. The upper ball hangs directly from the toggle ring, but the lower sphere is connected to the ring by a chain segment plus a little diamond rondelle link (part of the original cuff link). We counted a total of 224 round sapphires plus the two ovals and came up with an estimated sapphire weight of at least 2.40 carats. The sapphires are a gorgeous range of medium blue, with a couple of lighter stones mixed in. The diamonds are all full-cut flyspecks. We counted 32 stones with a diamond weight of no more than 0.15 carats. All stones are guaranteed natural and earth-mined. The cufflinks were probably made in the 1970s; they aren't stamped (maker or purity) which, along with the workmanship, suggest a custom piece. The chain is new from our existing stock -- an Italian cable chain, 2mm wide with oval links. The toggle bar is the oldest component in the bunch -- Eytan filched it from a pocket watch chain, and it's probably around 100 years old, with a nice wavy pattern engraved or stamped on each long side. We like the choker (15.5") length, but we're not wedded to it. This sexy, playful pendant by Eytan Brandes features six daisy links in vivid 18 karat yellow gold, each centered with a bright and clean white diamond. The six diamonds range in size from 0.07 to 0.12 carats for a total diamond weight of 0.50 carats. They are all earth-mined, untreated natural round brilliants and each is set in an open-backed, white gold prong bezel. Eytan rates the diamonds G-H color and VS1-2 clarity. Each flower is 12mm to 14mm in diameter, for a total length, including the extra-large bale, of 3-3/4."
