Vintage Art-Deco Style Gladding-McBean El Patio Flame Orange-Red Carafe with Lid, circa 1930s. This carafe/pitcher is part of the Franciscan El Patio dinnerware line introduced by Gladding-McBean in 1934, known for its simple design and iconic "pretzel" shaped cup handle. This piece is in good vintage condition with one chip (on the inside of the lid, not noticable while lid is on the carafe - see photo) or scratches and measures approximately 6"H x 5"W x 4.25"D. #9039 The carafe is marked on the bottom with the oval GMCB mark that was in use from 1934 to 1938. The mark dates the piece to the earliest years of the production of El Patio, one of the five most important California solid colored dinnerware lines of the 1930s, alongside Pacific Hostess Ware, Bauer Ring Ware, Metlox 200 Series, and Vernon Kilns...

Rare pair of taper candle holders feature classic Mid Century Modern lines with combination of lightly textured ceramic surfaces and high gloss glaze providing additional visual interest to the monochromatic pieces. Both bobeche and the tray are decorated with a simple graphic relief band. Soft, warm hues of the gloss complement the elegant shape of thepieces. The candle holders were designed in 1951 by Mary Grant as a part of Franciscan Wheat Harvest Brown line; the line was in production for a relatively short time from 1951 to 1954. The candle holders are marked on the bottom with "Made in USA"; they are in very good vintage condition. The Gladding, McBean & Company, one of the biggest potteries in Southern California, was founded in 1875 in Lincoln, California.
