A rare historical book is for sale:
"Autogyro A-4 TsAGI. Aerodynamics, Design, Operation"
— Moscow, ONTI NKTP USSR, 1934
Description:
Published by the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Professor N. Ye. Zhukovsky, edited by Engineer N. K. Skrzhinsky, chief designer of the A-4 autogyro. The book contains a brief history of the autogyro, the fundamentals of rotorcraft theory, a detailed technical description of the A-4's design, data on its aerodynamics, and instructions for flight operation, maintenance, and the operation of the M-26 engine (300 hp).
This edition was published in a print run of only 2,000 copies and was intended for flight technicians, students of aviation educational institutions, and designers. Presented in a popular yet technically accurate format, it is a valuable source on the early history of Soviet rotary-wing aviation. 2,000 copies originally printed — now exceptionally scarce
Includes period illustrations, schematics, and technical diagrams
Historical Background:
The maiden flight of the TsAGI A-4 autogyro took place on November 6, 1932, at the TsAGI experimental plant. Test pilot: Sergei Aleksandrovich Korzinshchikov. The aircraft was a rotary-wing design with a main rotor equipped with a pre-takeoff spooling mechanism; its construction was composite (steel tubing, wooden wing, fabric covering).
Condition:
The book is in vintage condition — given its age (91 years), there are signs of wear (possible wear on the cover, slight darkening of the front cover at the top, yellowed pages, and abrasions at the corners), but the text is legible and the pages are intact. All illustrations and diagrams are present. Please see photos and videos.
