About the Item

An exceptional vintage Black Tie by Oleg Cassini evening gown, originally retailed by Neiman Marcus, circa late 1980s–early 1990s. Crafted from luxurious silk in an elegant nude-champagne tone, the gown is lavishly embellished with intricate hand-applied beadwork. Thousands of smoky silver, pewter and taupe glass beads form elaborate scrolling florals, roses, leaves and paisley-inspired motifs across the silk, creating a beautiful shimmering effect as the dress catches the light. The sleeveless bodice features a sophisticated high rounded neckline, richly finished with multiple rows of beads. The beautifully fitted silhouette follows the waist and hips before falling into a long, slender ankle-length skirt. A dramatic side slit adds movement and an elegant contrast to the richness of the embellishment. The intricate decoration continues across the back of the gown, demonstrating the exceptional amount of workmanship involved in its construction. A discreet centre-back zip preserves the clean, streamlined silhouette.
