A striking vintage Badgley Mischka evening pantsuit, circa 1989–1993, acquired from the celebrated collection of Iris Apfel. Rendered in luminous silver sage velvet, the ensemble displays a remarkable interplay of color, shifting between soft sage green, pewter, celadon, and silvery grey depending upon the direction of the velvet nap and the quality of light. The ensemble consists of an elegantly tailored longline jacket and coordinating high-waisted trousers. The jacket features sculpted shoulders, a dramatic plunging neckline, turn-back cuffs, and a flattering single-button closure. Expertly shaped princess seams create a refined, elongated silhouette that is both architectural and feminine. Cascading organic motifs composed of hand-applied jet beads and silver-toned sequins flow across the front, sleeves, and back, lending subtle movement and understated glamour to the richly textured velvet.
