About the Item

Fabulous antique dark apricot velvet bag in a floral design, with couch work gold and silver metallic embroidery on both the front and back, and a lovely floral filigree frame. The beautiful embroidery work is intricate with threads and beading, and a rhinestone at the centre of each design. The bag is signed, but is illegible. Measuring length at the base 15.7 cm / 6.1 inches by width including the frame 15.2 cm / 5.9 inches. The handle drop is 15.7 cm / 5.9 inches. The bag opens with a scissor shape, the hinge being covered with the ornate circles. It has a snap clasp. Inside there is a light coffee colour grosgrain lining with four small pockets, and a mirror and small purse. The mirror has some foxing. There is a small amount of wear to the corners of the bag. This stunning richly embroidered antique bag is in very good condition. A rare find. Circa 1910.
