About the Item

A hollow-formed pottery guardian figure made for tomb use, symbolizing protection in the afterlife. The upright stance, raised head, and open mouth convey authority and vigilance. Traces of red and yellow pigment and surface weathering indicate an originally painted surface, consistent with late Northern Wei to early Tang funerary traditions.
