About the Item

This antique Chinese porcelain vase from the mid-19th century is hand-painted in the blue-and-white manner with an idyllic mountain landscape. Attributed to the imperial kilns of Jingdezhen, the elegant vase is sculpted to a classic phoenix-tail silhouette, defined by its narrowed neck, flared lip and decorative handles. Brushed in cobalt blue underglaze, the tranquil scenery depicts a sleepy, riverside village dotted with pagodas and foliage, a form of mountain-and-water painting known as "shan shui" painting.
