About the Item

Antique Khmer Ceramic Bird Form Lime Pot. A squat globular stoneware jarlet in the form of a bird covered in a thick dark brown glaze stopping short of the elevated string cut foot displaying the beige biscuit, an owl’s beak and protruding eyes in relief on the shoulder and pinched relief suggesting tail feathers on the opposing side (slightly askew), incised vertical lines around the body and a detailed rope band around the aperture. The jar is complete with a matched and glazed three ring peaked lid. The interior has partial glazing. 12th century. Condition: Evidence of possible repairs to the the tail feather and the beak, glaze flakes at the chin, otherwise fine condition. Measuring overall: 2.5 inches high x 2.75 inches in diameter (64 x 70mm). 4.2 oz. (120g).
