About the Item

A large round Arita’ware lidded terrine of Japanese blue-and-white export porcelain, featuring two C-shaped loop handles and a domed lid topped with a rounded filial. The body is decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with two prominent branches of blooming peonies (botan), one on each side. The inside rim of the vessel is encircled by a decorative band. Comparable example in the collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (object number AK-RBK-1975-117-A). Price including insured shipping. When shipped, we will include a certificate of authenticity.
