Spanning approximately 197 feet (60 meters), it showcases geometric and sinuous patterns, blending the beauty of forged iron with Art Déco motifs and Art Nouveau fluidity. Reminiscent of Raymond Subes' work, the railing features intricate metalwork with a raw iron finish and gilded accents, complemented by a varnished wooden handrail. It elegantly navigates multiple architectural spaces, including a central staircase, hall, and balcony, maintaining aesthetic cohesion throughout. The design balances clean, linear elements with organic forms, creating a harmonious interplay of contrasts. Rectilinear segments ground the structure, while florid embellishments add dynamic elegance. This unity of design highlights meticulous craftsmanship and timeless sophistication. Originally part of the iconic Palacio Sudamérica in Montevideo, Uruguay, built in 1927 for Cervecerías del Uruguay by architect Juan M. Delgado, the railing reflects the building's opulent Art Déco style. The Palace, known as the 'Palace of Beer' at that time, was adorned with luxurious features and housed a convention center, social club, and grand ballroom. It underwent various administrative changes and remained a cultural landmark until its auction in 2021, marking a new chapter in Montevideo's architectural legacy.
