A magnificent and unusually tall antique Victorian cast iron fireplace surround, reclaimed from a period property in Knightsbridge, London. This substantial architectural fireplace is distinguished by its elegant vertical proportions and finely cast decorative detailing throughout. The crisp ornamental relief and imposing silhouette demonstrate the quality of British cast iron craftsmanship associated with the Victorian period. The fireplace has been fully refurbished and carefully finished using traditional black grate polish, producing an attractive gunmetal to pewter-toned surface. This traditional treatment beautifully highlights the depth and definition of the original cast decoration while retaining the authentic character of the iron. Its exceptional height and strong architectural presence make this an impressive focal point for a drawing room, reception room, library or other substantial period interior.
