About the Item

A good quality French Louis XVI style fireplace in Breche Violette marble. The scrolled, stop-fluted jambs adorned with acanthus leaf Ormolu, surmounted by rectangular ormolu paterae and beading. The panelled, shaped frieze with Ormolu beading throughout and swags to centre block. Moulded shelf above. A substantial piece in good quality Breccia, French, 19th century. Measures: Shelf width 1665 mm 65 ½ in Overall height 1065 mm 41 7/8 in Opening height 760 mm 29 7/8 in Opening width 1110 mm 43 ¾ in Depth of shelf 355 mm 14 in Overall jambs 1605 mm 63 ¼ in.
