About the Item

A superb and highly unusual 1960s or earlier French wicker fish ceiling light, an exceptionally rare survivor from the mid-century period. Handcrafted in woven wicker, the sculptural fish form features a single internal E14 lamp holder, with light gently radiating through the open mouth and intricately patterned “scales,” creating a warm and atmospheric glow. Retaining its original wicker hanging chain, this piece exemplifies the playful yet refined character of French decorative lighting from the era. Due to the delicate natural material, examples in such well-preserved condition are increasingly difficult to source. The fixture requires one European E14 candelabra bulb (max. 40W); LED bulbs are strongly recommended. Total drop including chain measures approximately 31 inches. The fish itself measures 9.5 inches high, 18 inches long, and 8 inches deep. Sourced from an estate sale in Strasbourg. Lightbulb not included.
