About the Item

A charming example of mid-century Swedish art glass, this petite Coquille bowl was designed by Paul Kedelv for Flygsfors Glasbruk and is dated 1953. The piece belongs to the iconic Coquille series, named after the French word for “shell,” which is reflected in the organic, freeform shape and soft, flowing edges. The bowl features a vibrant green core surrounded by a milky white interior border, both encased in a thick layer of clear crystal glass using the sommerso technique. The result is a luminous, layered composition that changes in depth and tone with the light. The form is square with gently undulating sides and upturned corners—hallmarks of Kedelv’s design language during his tenure at Flygsfors. Measuring approximately 3.5 inches across and 2 inches high, this compact piece is ideal as a vide-poche, jewellery dish, or a small decorative glass object. It retains its original Flygsfors label and is hand-signed and dated to the base. In very good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Minor surface wear commensurate with age.
