About the Item

Vintage Murano art glass bowl or ashtray features freeform lobed form with 3 scalloped rim segments, done in blue and green cased glass. The tactile shape is enhanced with 3 biomorphic glass pieces applied under each rim segment and dimpled accents of the sides. The moody, dark jewel toned palette and the complex form allows for unusual light effects within the complex form of the bowl. The glass glows in UV light, indicating the presence of uranium. Sculptural, highly decorative bowl with graphic, abstract sculptural forms, high quality artisanal craftsmanship, and statement piece presence will make a great gift to a collector or a design enthusiast and a perfect addition to a wide range of interiors, from Traditional to Mid Century Modern, Eclectic, Transitional, Arts and Crafts, Art Deco, Neo Deco, Modern Heritage, Organic Modern, English Cottage, Modern Country, Maximalist, Collected, or Contemporary. Flavio Poli (1900-1984) is best known for his work as artistic director at the Seguso Vetri d'Arte glass factory in Murano, near Venice. He joined the company in 1934 and worked there for over 20 years, developing a distinctive style that combined traditional Venetian glassmaking techniques with modern design sensibilities.
