About the Item

A beautiful and unique hand thrown stoneware bowl, with amazing glaze. Made by Liisa Hallamaa at Arabia, Finland, 1960s. Excellent condition. Incised signature "LH" and "ARABIA". Liisa Kaarina Hallamaa was a Finnish ceramist. She graduated from the ceramics department of the Central School of Art and Industry in 1949. She started working at Arabia as early as 1945 and worked as an artist in its art department from 1957 to 1971. Her work was characterised by large vases and vases. The materials used were chamotte and stoneware. He also worked as an assistant to Aune Siimes and her work has been influenced by Kyllikki Salmenhaara. Hallamaa held solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions both in Finland and abroad, and was awarded several prizes. Her works are in the collections of the Helsinki Museum of Applied Arts, among others.
