About the Item

A refined and highly architectural Italian glass vide-poche or serving tray designed by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte in the 1960s. Executed in deeply saturated cobalt blue curved crystal glass, the piece is distinguished by its elegantly bent rectangular form with subtly upturned corners and integrated recessed grips at each end. The tray demonstrates Ingrand’s mastery of sculptural simplicity and optical purity, with the intense blue tone creating remarkable depth and changing reflections depending on light and viewing angle. The thin, dark rim further emphasizes the floating quality of the form, while the gently curved body gives the object a distinctly modernist. Documented in the original Fontana Arte catalog No. 6 as model 2000, the design perfectly reflects the refined Milanese aesthetic of the period, balancing functional clarity with sculptural sophistication. A striking decorative centerpiece or collector’s object, equally suited for use as a serving tray, catchall, or display piece.
