This is an antique campaign apothecary box. An English, flame mahogany chemist's case, dating to the Georgian period, circa 1780. A superb and evocative example of 18th century portable medical storage, with fine quality materials and construction throughout. Fascinating Georgian chemist’s case, steeped in period charm and practical ingenuity Crafted from select flame mahogany, offering warm caramel tones and fine grain interest Dressed with brass corner caps and a recessed brass carry handle to the lid Lid opens to reveal 14 individually sized compartments with gently timeworn lining Lower drawer hosts four further sections, including a pair of lidded caddies for tools or ingredients Through pin with polished brass tip secures the lower drawer for travel or display Fascia adorned with a shield-shaped lock escutcheon — key absent Displays a fine balance of form and function, perfect for collectors of campaign or medical antiques A delightfully presented example of Georgian field apothecary design, this antique box makes for an intriguing conversation piece or display cabinet centrepiece.
