About the Item

Large rectangular table box with long, rounded sides, crafted from 925/1000 sterling silver, featuring a two-tone fire-enameled design in the Art Deco style. With "lost" hinge, i.e. semi-invisible. Dimensions: 10.5 x 15 x 2.3 cm. Weight gr. 463. This piece is the result of the close, trusting relationship that the renowned Maison Cartier USA established with the Salimbeni firm, relying on its excellence and expertise in goldsmithing to create rare and niche collections. Cartier's management sent its basic designs directly to the Florentine atelier, drawing inspiration from objects designed by Louis Cartier around 1920. It was then up to the talented Giorgio Salimbeni to rework and adapt these ideas to the collections selected by the parent company, which approved each individual project before production. Designed in 1980 and produced in a limited and extremely exclusive edition at the Salimbeni workshops in Florence. Characterized by bold geometric shapes, sharp color contrasts, and enamels typical of the 1920s and 1930s, these sets immediately evoke the luxury of that era. This box is a work of art, created entirely by hand by master craftsmen. Each piece retains its exceptional character: the process required a thick silver plate with sturdy reinforcements, which were essential for withstanding the complex and delicate firing of the enamel at high temperatures between 750° and 800° C. It is a new object that has never been used but is considered vintage because it was built more than 20 years ago. The hallmarks stamped on the underside of this fine Salimbeni sterling silver item include: Brand: Cartier manufacturer's mark: 391FI
